Electrical Design Engineer I

Santa Barbara Instrument Group, a division of Aplegen, is a leading designer and manufacturer of specialty CCD cameras for the astronomy and life sciences markets for over 20 years.

We are considering applications for an entry level Electrical Design Engineer to work as part of the engineering team designing our latest CCD cameras. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work with the engineering team performing the following tasks:
• Camera system design
• Schematic capture
• PC Board Layout
• FPGA design/modifications
• Firmware design/modifications

Desired Skills and Experience:
• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering
• 0-3 years experience in electronic design using
o ADCs (10MHz and above sampling rates)
o DACs
o Switching Power Supplies
o High Speed Drivers
o FPGA
o SDRAM
o USB
o Ethernet
• Experience with C and Assembly language programming
o 8 and 32-bit Microcontrollers experience a plus
• Experience with VHDL or Verilog
o Altera Quartus design tool experience a plus
• Experience with PC Board Layout

Software Engineer I

We are considering applications for an entry level Software Engineer to work as part of the engineering team designing and supporting our latest CCD cameras. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work with the engineering team performing the following tasks:
• Camera system design
• Firmware design/modifications
• PC Driver design/support
• PC Application design/support

Desired Skills and Experience:
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• 0-3 years experience in software design using
o USB
o Ethernet
o Image processing
• Windows C/C++ and .NET programming
• OSX and Linux with C/C++
• Labview experience
• C/Assembly experience with Microcontrollers a plus
